Walking in Rhythm-Music

Here are the songs included in my book,

Walking in Rhythm: A Devotional Journey for Musicians

The theme for our church kids summer camp was all about God's heartbeat. After several attempts at a camp theme song for that years' camp I finally stumbled onto the lyrics and music for Heartbeat. I knew the song was right when I played it for my wife while sitting in our backyard. While playing and singing about all creation echoing with God's heartbeat and even the trees clapping a very loud chorus of birds began singing along with me and the breeze picked up considerably. I smiled and chuckled as I sang and played at the "coincidence" thinking to myself, "That's not odd. That's God!"

I was driving home from participating in a prison ministry called Kairos at a state prison a couple of hours from home. As I drove I began singing what would become Lead Me On as a slow, old fashioned hymn. I scribbled the lyrics on a legal pad on the seat next to me while driving (I KNOW....not very safe of me) and committed the melody to memory. The next Sunday I introduced it to my worship team. My friend Mike Drabek surprised me by going into a Cajun two-step rhythm on drums as the song progressed. His impromptu arrangement stuck and it's been played the same ever since!

It was a Saturday night and I was finalizing music for Church the next morning. I was having trouble finding a  song that spoke the gospel in a simple, melodic way to be used as the final ministry time song at the end of the service. I sat down at my old Fender Rhodes electric piano and wrote Who Could Love Me Like That.  This was one of those time the words and music just "fell out" of my head and onto the page as fast as I could write. I pray it blesses you as much as it blessed me to write.
